Questions on Consigning Items for Auction
1. What items do you take on consignment
for your auctions?
We handle items ranging from general household items to fine antiques.
2. Do you
accept one or two items for consignment or do I need to have an entire house full?
We accept one item up to an
entire house or estate full of items.
3. When do you accept Bring-In consignments?
Consignments for
auction are taken in by appointment.
4. How do you keep consignments from different people separate?
Every consignor is given a code number(s) and their items are tagged. An inventory is made as the items are sorted.
Questions on Bids & Bidding
1. Do you accept absentee bids?
We gladly accept absentee
bids. Absentee bid guidelines vary slightly for our cataloged and uncataloged auctions.
For Cataloged Auctions:
If you are present at the auction, but cannot stay until the item in which you are interested is sold, you may leave
an absentee bid. This is handled at the front desk where you register for a bid number.
If you will not be present
at the auction, please review the complete catalog description before you submit your bids, unless you have already personally
examined the item. You may submit absentee bids for a Cataloged Auction by contacting us.
For weekly consignment
or Uncataloged Auctions:
For our uncataloged auctions, you must either personally examine the item or speak with a member
of the Auction staff about the item before placing an absentee bid.
If you have examined the item and it has a
lot number, you may use our absentee bid form.
Please indicate in the description field that you have personally examined
the item.
If the item does NOT have a lot number, please contact us by telephone to discuss your absentee bid.
2. How do you handle absentee bids?
All absentee bids are bid competitively. This means that if you
leave a $500 bid on an item we will bid on your behalf up to that amount. Absentee bidders often win their items at a lower
price than what they bid. All absentee bids are confidential. We do not accept "buy" bids.
If your bid
is successful we will notify you the week following the auction.
3. What if I want to do a "live" phone
bid on an item?
Telephone bidding is accepted at the auctioneer's discretion on a first come, first serve
basis. We ask that you reserve phone lines only for lots on which you are prepared to bid $500 or more.
All phone
bids must be arranged by noon the day preceding the sale of the item.
Please contact us by telephone to reserve
a phone line for auction day.
